A day of making cards

My friend Vicki came over today and we had a day of card making. Here are the ones I finished:
All Stampin' Up from hostess pack.

Library card stamp CTMH, all else Stampin' Up. And lastly, my demo included some butterfly cutouts with my last order and I decided to try to do something with one of them (all Stampin' Up).

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave...

Taryn & Alaina made these little flag art projects for the upcoming holiday. They dipped their fingers in white to make the stars, and then painted their hands red to make the stripes. They both seemed to have fun and they turned out super cute!

Save 43 trees!

Did you know that there are 1.79 printed directories produced for every man, woman, and child in the U.S. each year? That's equivalent to basically 43 mature trees consumed per year per person for these weighty volumes - which in my household (at least) hit the recycle bin as soon as they hit my doorstep.

Well, this organization is trying to change all that. Introducing Yellow Pages Goes Green (http://www.yellowpagesgoesgreen.org/). Enter your address with them, and they will contact the publishers of these directories on your behalf to request to be removed from their delivery lists.

Swaps

I made two swaps last night - a birthday card and a "picture" themed scrapbooking set.

The butterfly was stamped in black and then again with Versamark and embossed with glitter powder from SU. The paper is BG, stamp is TAC, brad & ribbon are SU. It says Happy Birthday on the inside because I just wasn't happy with how it looked every way I tried it on the front.
The paper & ribbon is SU (so saffron, close to coco, baja breeze, very vanilla) stamps are CTMH & SU, title is Cricut George. The theme was supposed to be elements you could use with general pictures that had a "picture" theme.

Call me crazy

I got my nose pierced! My BF Bobbie and I went together and got it done. It hurts :).

I'm not completely sure I love it yet, I'll have to get used to it and decide. I plan to get a smaller one but you have to start out with the bigger size so it stays in. I do feel a bit younger looking, though! Not just a boring old mom - or at least I can pretend.

I tried to get some pictures in the bluebonnets today. Mostly Taryn frowned and didn't want to be in them, lol! But here's one I got that turned out sorta cute!

Name Frame

I finally made Alaina a name frame like Taryn's. They are hung outside of their bedroom door. I stamped and cut out the letters. Then used paper and decorations to go with each girl's decor.

Wrapping up projects!

I have a never ending pile of "in progress" projects! I finished three of them this week and thought I'd share!

First up is a towel wrap. I also sell these, but this one is for Taryn to match her new swim suit!

Next is a shirt that I almost hated by the time I finished it, lol! I've been crocheting and sewing both for many years but have never done it together. I made the top part three, yes three, times! I also ran out of fabric and messed up the bottom twice. In the end it is finished but not perfect for sure! But I learned a lot and will make another one and hopefully get it right this time!

And finally is Taryn's Easter dress! I'm also selling this dress on Etsy, so check it out in the links on the right. Taryn loves her dress and wants to wear it every day!

Thank you to my ever-willing model, Taryn! She must think its normal to take pictures of each outfit you own ;).

Deal time for me!!

I was so proud of myself at the grocery store tonight! Here is what I got:

2 Dove deodorants
1 whole chicken
1 large top sirloin steak
1 large mahi mahi filet
2 packages cornbread mix
2 loaves bread
1 pint ice cream
2 boxes popcorn

How much did I spend? $15.10

Oh yeah! They actually paid me to take the two deodorants! They were on sale for $2.39 and I had two coupons for $1 off, making them $1.39 each. But then they gave me $3 cash back for buying two Dove products! Go me! I think I'm getting good at this coupon stuff! I got a ton of stuff last week for like $17.

Pillowcases for Taryn

So Taryn moved from a crib to a toddler bed a while ago. She had a small pillow that I'd made to go with her crib bedding, but we gave her a regular pillow a few months ago. We borrowed it from our guest bed and I'd never gotten wround to getting her her own. Well, they had to match of course! So after procrastinating forever, I finally got around to making her some! Here is her nursery that I made before she was born:

She still uses the sheets and quilt and stuff since the toddler bed uses the crib mattress. So, here are the pillowcases I made to match:

She is napping now but when she wakes up I'll show them to her and put one on her pillow. She will be so excited :). Someday she will be embarassed that mommy makes all her stuff but she loves it right now, lol!

I'm editing this to add the final picture. She was so excited - each time she lays down now she talks about her new pillowcase :).
